Review: The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Bookish Details:
Pages: 276 (Paperback)
Publisher: Puffin (UK)
Released: 2010 (UK)

Goodreads Summary:

Some summers are just destined to be pretty.

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer -- they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

My Review:
This book is a perfect summer read. The relationships between Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad are really interesting and I loved how the book goes back in time to previous summers that they spent together and shows how things have developed from back then. I also loved how the author described the summer house, it made me wish I could spend my summers there!

There is a perfect balance of emotions going on in the story. There's romance, humor and a bit of sadness. There's plenty going on to keep you reading from the first page to the last.

I do have to admit though that I did find Belly a little bit annoying sometimes. But the two boys were so fabulous that they blocked out any Belly-Shaped annoyance!

My Royal Rating:

Look out for the sequel: It's Not Summer Without You
