Society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue, in the attempt to form a 'perfect society'. On her Choosing Day, Beatrice Prior renames herself Tris, rejects her family's Abnegation group, and chooses another faction. My Review:
Divergent in a word? EPIC! This amazing dystopian novel is full of action, adventure, bravery, and even romance.
Divergent is set in a twisted future, in which people are sorted into various factions: Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Erudite and Dauntless. Each faction lives by certain rules, for example: Abnegation have to be selfless and Amity believe in keeping the peace. A person is sorted into a faction when they are 16. In order to be sorted, the subject must go through a test to determine two factions that he/she would be fitted to. The subject must then choose between those two factions on the day of the choosing ceremony.
On the day of her simulation test, Beatrice finds out that her test results are inconclusive. She is told that she is Divergent. Divergent is the name for people who show the traits of three or more factions. Beatrice is told not to tell anyone and she begins to understand why: Being Divergent is dangerous.
Beatrice must choose to stay in her faction of Abnegation or to move on to another faction and leave everything behind. The choice she makes changes her life forever.
This book is a total Jaw-Dropper from the first page to the last and is truly un-put-downable! There are some really amazing action scenes throughout and, of course, the relationship between Beatrice and Four is fabulous. Divergent is a completely thrilling read and I would definitely recommend it to fans of dystopian novels. I can not wait for the sequel, Insurgent, due out in May next year.
My Royal Rating:
I'm right in the middle of Divergent now! LOVE IT!
