Goodreads Summary:My Review:
A love that knows no bounds.
Abbey knows that Caspian is her destiny. Theirs is a bond that transcends even death. But as Abbey finally learns the full truth about the dark fate that links her to Caspian and ties them both to the town of Sleepy Hollow, she suddenly has some very hard choices to make. Caspian may be the love of her life, but is that love worth dying for?
Okay, I loved The Hollow, and I loved The Haunted, and I was really excited to see how it all ended in The Hidden… but I was left highly disappointed.
This book, for me, had a dull ending. It was all rather doom and gloom, and although it comes across as being a happy ending for the characters, I didn't feel like it was. It just wasn’t a satisfying ending for the series or for Abbey. I can't really explain why I felt that way unless I discuss the ending, so please scroll past the spoiler section if you don't wish to know!
*SPOILERS*
Abbey taking Kristen's place in death just didn't seem like a sensible way to end this series. The message is gave wasn't exactly a positive one. Abbey died to be with Caspian, and that really didn't feel right to me. In fact, I would have preferred it if Caspian would have been able to 'move one'. Yes, it would have meant Abbey wouldn't be with him, but she would be allowed to move on also, over time. It would have been a more positive message to readers to show Abbey live her life and becoming stronger. I just can't support a plot in which a protagonist willingly ends her life for a boy.
*SPOILERS OVER*
The story up until the end was amazing. There was plenty of goings on to keep me reading and I loved how Caspian and Abbey’s relationship developed. But I just saw the ending going in a totally different direction from what actually happened.
I think this series had so much potential, and whilst The Hidden was great until the ending, I felt that those final few chapters just made the other events from the series quite irrelevant.
